DIY Project Parade Highlights

My goal the next week or so is to have yard sale items sorted, priced, boxed and ready to go for the first free weather-friendly weekend.  So I spent the day cleaning.  Actually that translates to playing doll house and re-arranging.  Decorating is so distracting and a great procrastination tool.  Does that happen to you?

I'm loving all of the DIY inspiration linked up this week!  Sometimes I look at the links and just want to add one of everything into my 'shopping cart'! Please click the link to see the details, tutorial and more pictures by the original blogger....

I share her addiction to numbering (and labeling) things.

DIY at Organizing Made Fun

Hi DIY friends!
Organizing Made Fun
Meet:  Becky from Organizing Made Fun!  She has an DIY transformation to share with you today.  Before picture shows the outdated look of her family room.  TONS of wood paneling ...

Now it's a peaceful beach cottage inspired hangout.

Here are a few favorite details but see "Family Room Peek" for more information on everything they did.

Capiz Shell Chandelier

They did an amazing job! It no longer even looks like a basement area, does it? Amazing how paint and lighting and the right accessories can change the entire atmosphere from dark outdated basement to bright, fun and inspiring! Great job, Becky! I love your new family room!

The Mustard Ceiling

The Mustard Ceiling

I'm sitting here multi-tasking: surfing the web, looking at entries for today's blog post, searching inspiration (I could look at beautiful homes all day long), taking a break for dinner, trying to figure out how the Nook works that I got for my birthday and watching "Speed" out of the corner of my eye. Anyway, my point is...I came across Elizabeth's home tour, before and after transformations and DIY projects and knew right away that I wanted to introduce her to you.  I love that feeling - motivation that I get from the blogging community, don't you? Elizabeth will inspire you.

Her blog is dedicated to her obsession with interior design, do-it-yourself projects and other daily musings.  :)

Here are a few before and afters of her gorgeous home.

Kitchen before had charm but an outdated feel with what she calls 'groovy gold' countertops and matching dishswasher...

Kitchen after is so pretty with even more charm. I'm glad she kept the sink - love that! The open shelving is so convenient and a great way to bring more interest to a wall of cabinets.

Bedroom after...chocolate! I spy with my little eye something beginning with a L-O-V-E (remember that car game?!). A couple of things I want: that bedding, the chairs, that rug and chandelier!

I want to curl up on the couch with a throw blanket and good book and never leave this living room:

See more of Elizabeth's before/after home tour at the The Mustard Ceiling Before/After.

Elizabeth's husband also contributes to The Mustard Ceiling blog.  I love this post about the "Cloffice"(closet office)and living with an interior designer...

And great tutorial on wainscoting (their gorgeous dining room):

It makes me want to get up off the couch and tackle every project all at once, not knowing where to begin!  Thank you so much for sharing your before and afters and DIY, Elizabeth (and Alfred).  Beautiful job on every single detail!

It's Just Paint...

"It's Just Paint".  That's the mantra over at W Design, along with "Love Where You Live".  Great advice from Susie, blogger at W Design.  That is exactly how I feel about our home...do what we love, make our home ours.

Susie does just that.  Take a look (click the links for more details and pictures!).

Kitchen Before:
Notice the paint can on the counter. The cabinets were about to be rescued!

So much wood crying out to be painted!

Kitchen After:

Oh for the love of painted cabinets.  Everyone is doing it (including me!) but I never get tired of seeing the transformation.  It's lovely. Every.time. And Susie's kitchen is no exception.  What a beautiful brighter difference!

Susie's little girls' room got a makeover too.  It's beautiful before and it's stunning after...

Girls' Room Makeover

Before (so sweet!)

But two daughters became three daughters and more room was needed. The closet went from looking like this:

to looking like this:

WOW!

Next, she added some character to the room with painted wallpaper by making her own stencil. Trace, paint, repeat. LOVE!

Hours and days later, the walls were finished.

$10 Goodwill desk is perfect for her girls...

Susie's father-in-law finished a bunk bed system they designed for the room.  Perfect for three girls in one room.  It is beautiful!  The entire room is just so sweet, isn't it? Awesome bunk beds!

What a fun girls' room!  More details to come!
---
There's more to see at W Design - including her fun basement!

See more at It's Showtime!

Susie - every single project, every detail is so amazing!  Way to transform a space or two or three! Thank you so much for 'showing off'!
