DIY Project Parade

What a week!  Did you have higher temps than normal?  I've been adjusting to caring for Niski and working on selling my car (I think it was 100 degrees in my car when I was cleaning/vacuuming it - not fun!) and buying a new-to-me used one so I didn't accomplish much in the way of DIY.  :(  But I do have something I want to share with you very soon that involves DIY.  I am SO excited!

However, Meg sent me an email with her latest DIY projects and you're going to love what she's done!  Here is her letter!

There she was. Buried. Waiting for me to take her home and put her back together.

I added a back, shelves, lighting a lot of paint, and rescued the original hardware. And now I have a baking cabinet. We are very happy together.

I also brought home the little coffee table that was leaning (dying) up against it, and brought it back to life. I reinforced it with new supports (from my scrap pile) underneath. Is there anything better than spray paint? $2.

And I scored a pair of these chairs for $50.

$50 on fabric.
$20 on electric staple gun
$5 on staples
$5 on tack strips
I already had the pillows, (but I should note that they came from a garage sale for $5...don't they fit perfectly?!)

Who knows how to upholster? I guess I do now.  I didn't invest much in the chairs, so I wasn't terrified to take them apart. The result is fabulous!
Don't be afraid to try new things, gals!

(ps-the chair is still on a sawhorse in the picture...it doesn't actually have long crazy legs!)  I took the chairs in to a local upholsterer for a big and he said $400 per chair + fabric.
Add the cost of the chairs to that and it would be $450 per chair!
I spent $65 on each, They are still in excellent shape almost a year later, and now I don't care if my kids love on them. Can you imagine the wreck I'd be if I'd dropped $900 on these bad boys?  No thanks, I'll do it myself :)
And YOU can DIY, too!

Love your blog! Thanks!
-Meg

Amazing, right?  Little $.  Awesome results!  Thanks so much for sharing your hard work with us, Meg!
