My Latest Thrifty Finds

I hit the thrift store at least once a week and need to catch up sharing my finds (maybe include a fashion label too since a lot of my clothes seem to come from there lately too).  Here are a few of the treasures I found with more to be posted in the near future.

I couldn't pass up these chairs.  They're going in a guest bedroom once we start the makeover there but since that room is currently my craft room/office, they're sitting in this space for now.  I had to make it look nice in the meantime. (And I'm collecting plates to fill in and add color to the plate wall.)

This tiny wall in the kitchen is the perfect spot for this mirror. Ggreat to catch a quick look before heading out the door...picture is taken at an angle so my reflection isn't in there.  I wasn't dressed to share.

I love this Pennsylvania card from a box of US State cards.  Looks so cute in my reclaimed frame.

Handmade cards are the best, aren't they?

This is Ali & me (and a lemon cupcake)...

and Bri used a book cover, old book pages, a doily and decoupage for this pretty creation (peek of it pictured below). 

Both sentiments were so sweet and brought tears to my eyes. I am loved.

Bri even made an amazing brown sugar and vanilla body scrub (I love the old canning jar and handmade tag tied on with twine)...

So many special, awesome gifts. I'm so blessed. BUT the best gift is my two beautiful young woman. I'm so proud of them.

My Thrifty Finds

Yard sale season!  Woo hoo!  I attended my first yard sale of the year today.  I didn't come home empty handed.   Here are the results of my treasure hunt...

Of course, I could have gotten so much more, but I was good and practiced restraint.  Okay.  It's mainly because Wisteria is having an 80% off sale and I found some great bargains there too including...

I need to have a yard sale before I bring home more treasures, if you know what I mean.

Four Corners Design - DIY Silverware Lamp

I've seen some clever silverware DIY ideas (sunburst clocks, wall hooks, garden markers) and adorable teacup lamps but this is the first time I've seen this cute lamp created by Amy at Four Corners Design.

Amy drilled holes in the ends of the silverware...

and gave the lamp and lampshade skeleton a coat of spray paint then went to work stringing the silverware using wire.

An Amazing DIY'er - the Dilletante Proprietor

Lisa from the Dilletante Proprietor is one amazing DIY diva. I am amazed by her projects!

"I bought a house and half an acre for 600.00 dollars at a tax sale and have set out to remodel and redecorate it for little or no money...using repurposed, reused, recycled items. I believe in organic gardening, growing your own food and living the original American Dream contrary to America's current value system that more more more is the key to happiness!"

Lisa's house was built in 1919 and has a history of little work and big chaos but Lisa is patient. She knows what she wants and achieves it with a small budget.  

Her kitchen before was a nightmare to put it mildly. You can read the horrors and HARD work for yourself at My Free,  Repurposed, Reused Kitchen.

She kept true to the 1919 style but with modern conveniences. The result is an adorable old-fashioned kitchen full of original charm. I just LOVE this...

There are more kitchen changes in progress and I can't wait to see the results!

She also re-upholsters!  (I swear I would have taken a year off from DIY after the blood, sweat, tears and pure joy at finishing the kitchen).  Take a look at this thrift store chair before (love the plank walls and original hardwood floor too)...

Lisa - I love the simple life you've settled into, growing your own food, decorating and home renovations on a nearly non-existent budget and creating a lovely comfortable home.  You are an inspiration and I love your DIY projects. Vintage Window Mirror and the DIY Project Parade

It's been a week and I can't wait to see what you've been DIY-ing!  This week, I created an acid-look vintage window mirror using an old window, Krylon Looking Glass Mirror-Like paint, Gorilla Glue and left over fabric.  Super easy! 

1.  It seems there is rumor that Krylon was going to discontinue Looking Glass paint.  Myth!  Krylon states there is no plan to discontinue Looking Glass paint.

2.   They also said that the main retailer for the looking glass is Michaels.  I would also try other crafting stores. The product rep gave me this Web site as well. They said they usually refer people to it to find more products:
