365 Days to Simplicity

Meet:  Angela - She's a talented DIY'er, wife and mother of 4 children.  Their home was built in 1860.  I don't know how she does it but I love her creativity and smile at her writing.  Here are just a few of examples of her DIY talent.

An Amazing DIY'er - the Dilletante Proprietor

Lisa from the Dilletante Proprietor is one amazing DIY diva. I am amazed by her projects!

"I bought a house and half an acre for 600.00 dollars at a tax sale and have set out to remodel and redecorate it for little or no money...using repurposed, reused, recycled items. I believe in organic gardening, growing your own food and living the original American Dream contrary to America's current value system that more more more is the key to happiness!"

Lisa's house was built in 1919 and has a history of little work and big chaos but Lisa is patient. She knows what she wants and achieves it with a small budget.  

Her kitchen before was a nightmare to put it mildly. You can read the horrors and HARD work for yourself at My Free,  Repurposed, Reused Kitchen.

She kept true to the 1919 style but with modern conveniences. The result is an adorable old-fashioned kitchen full of original charm. I just LOVE this...

There are more kitchen changes in progress and I can't wait to see the results!

She also re-upholsters!  (I swear I would have taken a year off from DIY after the blood, sweat, tears and pure joy at finishing the kitchen).  Take a look at this thrift store chair before (love the plank walls and original hardwood floor too)...

DIY ~ Make Your Own Valentine's Day Cards

Nothing is more personal than a handwritten note, so why should Valentine's Day be treated any differently? Show someone you care by making your own Valentine's Day cards. Get your construction paper, felt, scissors markers and glue... add some stickers, glitter, stamps, paint brushes and paint... and go to town! I promise you will have fun!

CUTE knife, fork, spoon art from Katie at A Couple of Dreamers.  The backgrounds are made using pages of a book and ModPodge.  The images are printed on transparent label paper.  So easy and look perfect in her beautiful dining room!

Fun bulletin board/wall art at I'm Not a Trophy Wife...great idea for kid's rooms!  She has two different ideas.

Allison from Parker's Place took her friend's broken honeymoon souvenir and created a tiled mirror.  Isn't she such a great friend?  What a clever and sweet idea.  This would work for any broken plate or break one on purpose! ;)

DIY Project Parade

Hi! I hope you had a great weekend!  It was a perfect fall day here today and we went to the pumpkin patch.  I've been working on something but I'm not quite ready to show it yet. (sneak peek here)  Anna from Room 2 Think has a great tutorial for her super easy, super cheap zebra print.  Check it out!  For $8 and 30 minutes, Amanda created this:

Materials: 

• Foam board
• Contact paper

Anna says the trick is to cut out lines that weren’t to curvy but not to straight either. Use a picture of a zebra as a guide. Anna laid the strips of un-peeled contact paper onto the foam board before peeling them.
