I Like It, I Love It!

Meet:  Meg from

I first 'met' Meg when she submitted her living room. Beautiful, colorful and full of energy. I was "lovin' I Like It, I Love It" and couldn't wait to see more.  A home tour that had me at "I like it".

Here are some pictures and the links for you to meet Meg too and see more of her beautiful home:

I love the bright fun colors and beautiful arches.

So pretty, so peaceful. I love the color selection and beautiful details.
What a beautiful, dreamy space.

Special room for a special little girl.

With a pantry in the works during our kitchen makeover in our own home,
Meg's pantry is truly an inspiration...
Organization Heaven!

If you'd like to see more or just make a new blog friend who shares your interest in creating a beautiful home (along with milk and chocolate chip cookies, margaritas, magazines and fashion on a budget - we're all going to be good friends!), head over to Meg's blog. She scored a fabulous blue ghost chair and I know I'm looking forward to seeing her upcoming office makeover!  Meg, thank you so much for sharing your design talent and beautiful home!

Blame It on the Toes

There's a special meaning behind Liz's blog, Blame It on the Toes. I'll let her tell you about that (here).  Liz and her husband, Mike, have done some amazingly gorgeous DIY transformations in their home!

First, a room used for storage becomes a sweet nursery.  You can see the full transformation from start to nearly-finished at Jett's Nursery...Renovation.

A nursery that inspiration is made of...

Room Before

Dresser before:

Dresser after is gorgeous...

No part overlooked, drawers were Mod Podged too!

TV armoire before...

Amazing after...

Inside is just as fun...

More sneak peeks:

Not only does baby have a sweet place to dream, but mom and dad have a pretty sweet retreat themselves!

Bedroom before was a blank slate...

After is stunning!  Same room?  Hard to believe but find proof in every DIY detail at Blame it on the Toes Bedroom Makeover...

WOW! Great job Liz & Mike!  I love both rooms and the furniture makeovers are beautiful!  Thank you so much for sharing your hard work!

Bambina Babe Nursery

I thought I had featured this but looking back, it never published. My apologies to Nealy from Bambina Babe (her awesome kitchen featured back in June) because I had the best of intentions.  Hopefully better late than never applies. This nursery is the things inspiration is made of. (You can see all of her inspiration at Nursery Part I and she does a fantastic job of making her own version every bit as beautiful and special.)

Nursery before...

And after:

Walls are Benjamin Moore Beacon Gray and the (faux) Roman shades are DIY!

I love that she calls it a compilation of junk and spray paint. HAHA! The result is beautiful and fun.

Love this art. She doesn't say it's definitely a do-able DIY project...

The bedding is MILDI (mother-in-law-did-it), sewing together a hodge podge of Amy Butler fabrics.  It's gorgeous!

Hot glue + pink pom pom trim = pretty touch to a plain lampshade.

The little lampstand/table is another thrifty find painted pink.

DIY name art (dischangers would be a great way to prepare these for hanging).

DIY lighting - she spray painted an old fixture from their dining room and added crystals with the help of her mom.

Isn't it darling?  Beautiful results using a little DIY and thrifty finds!

Thanks so much for sharing, Nealy!  You did an amazing job on a small budget with great results! I love it!

Scissors and Spatulas

Jennifer from

shares our love of DIY in order to create the look and home accents she wants without the big price tag.  Our kind of blog buddy!  We all love old windows and you'll love her creative window projects!

One is a the perfect frame for old family photos. I love the chippy old finish paired with old photos...perfect. It hangs above her writing desk.

The second one became a mirror and it's beautiful in her son's nursery...
Her nursery is all DIY and discount purchases (2nd child = tiny budget)  and doesn't it look just as beautiful as any you've seen in a catalog or magazine?  It's stunning.

See more pictures ---> NURSERY KNOCK OFFS

So peaceful! She sewed the curtains above herself and saved over $160. I love the beadboard and striped walls, soothing colors and that gorgeous bedding (she made the pillows except for the monogrammed one).

Super job, Jennifer!  I love your DIY style and the nursery is adorable!  Thank you so much for sharing your creativity!

Transforming Kitchen to Office to Nursery with a Bonus Closet

Yes - you read the title to this post correctly.  Kitchen.  Then Office.  Now Nursery.  And what they call a closet but I call it a dreamy dressing room.

First - congratulations to Jason and Abby from Rough Housing with the Rogers!  They have a new little guy born just last week!

Back to the room in their nearly 100 year old house located in an upstairs mother-in-law suite/apartment.  It's a tiny kitchenette.  Here it is before when they purchased their house.

Jason and Abby didn't have a need for an upstairs kitchen since their home was no longer 2 apartments.  Enter Jason and his demo skills and it became an office (with a dresser since closet space is limited in old houses)...

Once baby Austin was on the way, plans for a nursery began to take place. Wall space was awkward in the little room.  The 'kitchen cabinets while handy as a source of storage took up valuable wall space and were removed.  The tiny closet was covered to allow for more space (don't panic - there is a closet surprise coming up).

Before:

In progress:

Done!

Jason and Abby built an enclosed porch onto the first floor to create a space for a walk-in closet upstairs off of the baby's room!  Brilliant!  Doing the work themselves (obviously a little more DIY-skilled and talented than the average person), they saved a lot of money.

They recycled the carpet from the nursery to use in the closet and Jason built the walk-in closet shelving himself.

Here is the the awesome walk-in closet/dressing room and nursery finished.  Gorgeous! Envious?  Yea, me too!
Nursery:

Hard to believe that same space was a kitchen and then office!

Then, as if that isn't enough to motivate you to change a kitchen into a dressing room (tempting, isn't it? haha), they're sharing their $3500 DIY kitchen makeover.  These two are DIY super heroes.

Click here to see the kitchen before, progress, more after photos and all of their details on how their kitchen went from this:

Before

To this...

What they did:
  • Complete demo
  • Tray ceiling
  • Staining and installing new cabinets
  • Tile backsplash
  • New light fixture
  • New countertops
  • New appliances
  • Okay - pretty much everything!

There are more amazing DIY projects over at Rough Housing with the Rogers including a guest bedroom makeover, complete bathroom gut and walk in tile shower, living room and dining room makeovers.  I'd share more but before you know it, I'd have their entire blog located in this post so best for you to pop over to check it out.  Warning:  Adorable BABY photos! He is sooo precious!

Thanks so much for sharing Jason & Abby!  You've done a FABULOUS job!
