{AKA} Design - Reclaimed Headboard (and more)

Sometimes you just see an inspiring DIY project and make plans to add on a bedroom to your home, right?  Okay, so that's a little extreme but it is a dream of mine after seeing this gorgeous reclaimed wood-look headboard. Too bad that the 3 beds in our house are a poster bed, a sleigh bed and my daughter's French provincial.  Otherwise, you'd see me making my version of this DIY rustic beauty from Shannon at {AKA} Design.

I even love the super cute burlap banner...
Looks like real barn wood, doesn't it?  Sometimes that's not always available so Shannon and her husband made their own.  They did a pretty realistic job, don't you think?

It's a perfect accent to her inspiration board...dreamy bedroom!
You can find the "how to" at

as well as some other amazing DIY ideas to inspire your next project...

There is so much more to see. And what I love about Shannon's DIY is that they're not only beautiful and affordable, she makes DIY look easy!  Check out her super adorable digital prints too!  So sweet!

Love Your Room

Shoshana from Love Your Room has some amazing talent. She's an interior designer and has been featured at HGTV and Houzz.com. Let me show you why that is! She can be inspired by a pizza box and make her home office look like this:

What?!  Yep.  Huge pizza box = large stencil.  Gorgeous, isn't it?  I love it!  You can see her full post with more pictures at Home Office Inspired by a Pizza Box (including a how-to).

She also has a Super Easy (at least her headboard tutorial makes it look easy) DIY headboard. Cost = $63!

And finally, looking for more photo wall inspiration and tips on how to make it look great?

Shoshana - LOVE YOUR ROOM!  Thank you so much for sharing your awesome, helpful tutorials!

See more of her blog at Love Your Room for lots of great tips and inspiration for your next DIY project.

Beautiful Inspirations, Beautiful Bed

When someone falls in love with something (either furniture, decor or even an entire room in a magazine) and inspiration to DIY hits - they're inspiring. Sometimes I can't afford the things I want but when I can re-create it with my own two hands (or our four hands), it's so rewarding. Money saved.  Pride in work.  This was the case with Kari from Beautiful Inspirations and her husband.  This is the Colette bed from Crate and Barrel.  Price tag $1799.

Here is Kari's DIY version at just $300...

Yea. Stunning, huh? I heard you gasp.  They did a little of this...

Thank you Kari for sharing your hard work. Good luck with the nail head trim but for now...the bed even at 99% is gorgeous and I am in love and inspired. Super job!

Bed Envy!

Kate from Twenty-six to Life is giving her master bedroom a makeover.   Uncertainty didn't deter her from getting the bed and storage she wanted from PB.   She wasn't sure she could pull off building a bed but a DIY'er dives right in!  Using Ana White's plans as a guide, Kate and her husband built this amazing PB inspired Stratton bed...

Kate also designed and created a beautiful tufted headboard using a pretty damask print...

It's awesome, Kate!  LOVE the big fluffy down comforter too...snuggling up in your new big bed has to be so rewarding!  It looks like the dogs agree!

You can find more information on Kate's original posts:

There's more good stuff where that came from!  There's a DIY label at the top of her blog.  Check it out!  I'm so inspired.  We have plans to build an Ana White design as well...crossing my fingers that it turns out this gorgeous too!  Looking to be a brave DIY furniture builder?  GREAT designs at Ana-White.com. Warning - you'll be motivated to put on some safety glasses and grab your tools!  If you've already created something beautiful with Ana White's direction, I'd love to see it!  I've been meaning to 'show off' her site for a while now.  What better way than to share your projects?!

DIY Headboard and Dresser Makeover

Danica is a new blogger.  In fact, as I type this to introduce you to her, I'm her only follower.  Inspired by other bloggers, she just started her blog, Our Northern Home, to document her DIY projects.  Check out her DIY headboard which she made using a 5 panel door:

Welcome to blogging, Danica!  Thank you for sharing your beautiful DIY projects.  Look forward to seeing more!

If you have a blog, remember how it felt starting out, wondering if anyone would read or comment?  Making new blog friends and the encouragement is my favorite part of blogging.  If you have a minute, pop over to see Danica's projects at Our Northern Home and give her a dose of bloggy love.  Knowing someone reads and took the time to stop by makes blogging worth every minute.  :)
